Mesothelioma Lawsuit Timeline: From Filing to Resolution
Video Transcript
A mesothelioma lawsuit can take varying periods of time from filing of the case to the time you go to a verdict. In Washington state, for example, and in King County, if the person is living, you can expedite the case under state law to approximately 6 to 7 months. So from the time you file the case to the time you complete the verdict, it could be as quick as 7 months. That’s very fast compared to a normal case on a normal schedule which typically takes 18 months. If the person who is deceased from an asbestos claim comes to us, the family is still allowed to bring a claim provided it’s within the statute of limitations for bringing it. And that case can take 18 months from the time it’s filed to the time that you reach either a verdict or a settlement at the end of the case. It can become longer than that as well in certain circumstances depending on the specifics of the case. But a person who has asbestos disease who is living can often get a very expedited trial date and our firm moves very quickly and that’s one of the reasons why our firm has a great deal of expertise in this area is it’s a big challenge to bring a case from filing to a verdict within 6 to 7 months. And that’s where our expertise, our knowledge, and our experience comes in at Oslund Udo Little.
