Meet Debbie Silberman
Video Transcript
My name is Debbie Silberman. I was born in Houston, Texas. I went to New York for both college and law school and stayed there for a period of 20 years. And then I knew I couldn’t stay away from the mountains any longer. And I thought, what an amazing opportunity to both be able to live, play, and work in Seattle, Washington. I had a background in representing many different kinds of survivors of sexual assault, juveniles, adults, even the elderly who only recently came to understand that a lot of their lifelong suffering was as a result of sexual assault. My focus right now is on juveniles who were sexually assaulted while incarcerated in the jail or prison system. I think it’s an enormous privilege to get to be a lawyer and I feel so fortunate that complete strangers entrust me with some of the most devastating life experiences. There’s an incredible privilege to get to stand up on behalf of an individual who needs help. And I feel so lucky that I get to go to work every day and give a voice to individuals who’ve been really harmed either by other individuals, by institutions, and get to give them a voice and help them find some semblance of justice. While all firms handle clients, this firm was unique in its passion for clients. This firm is really different in its dedication to the well-being of clients. I wanted to work at a firm that really cared not only about the cases but about the people behind the cases.
